Hebert (ay-BEAR) placed the crystal skull in my lap and said, Diane, close your eyes. This was my third initiation with this Shaman that calls himself my brother.
He is a respected Shaman or Paco of Aquas Caliente, Peru, and lives at the base of Machu Picchu. The gift that he gave to me came in the form of dancing with condor feathers, playing ancient musical instruments, chanting and calling Great Spirit, Allah, Sai Baba, Mary, Jesus, requesting permission from the Apus of the Andes and of North America, including Mt Shasta. After an hour or more had passed, he asked me to open my eyes. I couldnt see. My head felt as though it was encased in crystals of bright light.
I cried out. I cant see! Hebert laughed and said, Look." Only a few people were left in the ancient city, and they were wandering toward the exit as the gates were about to be locked. Below me sat three llamas
-- one brown, one black and one white. A vibrant double rainbow crossed the Urubamba river, crowning the majestic city of Machu Picchu. Hebert said to me that together we had created a bridge to Spirit, not on our own but through us with the help of the Angels. The city had become still, and my group began to gather in the altar, overlooking the breathtaking ruins, for a full moon ritual, the delicious scent of fire filling the air. Some of us seemed to leave our bodies that evening, but for me it was different. For me, the experience was one of coming home.
I touched the earth and remembered my most precious day.
It was my seventh birthday. I couldnt believe that I had lived that long. I already felt like such an old soul. I whirled around until I
fell onto the grass, too dizzy to hold myself up and cried out, Im seven, Im seven, lucky seven and held the earth with my arms out stretched as though I
could really hold all of it and sang slow world slow." Then I would jump up and begin to whirl again until I would fall onto the grass and bury my face
into it, smelling the sweet green of it.
Beginning at the age of only six weeks old, I was not expected to live. A year later, during a Last Rites ceremony, my mother took me from the hospital
and with wild mother energy refused to believe what she was being told. For three days she breathed into my mouth and massaged me, floating me in water
and not letting anyone come near us until my father brought a naturopath home, who began to work with my mother. For the next 12 years, Dr.
Blackford worked with me and taught my mother how to keep me alive with a special diet of raw nuts, fruits, vegetable juices, and rice.
I continued to spend much of my life in hospitals. One evening, I slowly began to wake up and as I opened my eyes, I saw that all my close relatives
were by my bed with my mother and father. I felt sad for them because they looked so unhappy. I sensed that they were not expecting me to live very
much longer. The feeling of detachment was familiar and the material world surrounding me was thick, every thing seemed to be huge and moved at a very
slow pace. Again, angels came and a miracle brought me back to health.
I grew up, married, had another miracle, my son, spent my years as a busy mother and experienced a successful career as an art director in the film business.
My life was full of blessings, until I was told that another surgery was necessary. It
was my thirty fifth and I came through just fine until one afternoon, during my recovery, everything took an unexpected turn for the worse. I was home alone and unable to reach my doctor. I began to slip
away, to surrender to the mystery, ready to give up. A deep calm embraced me. I was experiencing the last of many near death experiences, or so I
thought I found myself overlooking the most glorious valley that I later learned was the Sacred Valley of the Andes, called by the Incas, the Valley of
Constellations. The Peruvians believe this is where Heaven fell to Earth and that many ruins still exist there that were originally built in the shape of
the constellations. They believe that this is a portal by which Angels help us to cross over to the other side, according to Hebert.
I stood watching the Angel hover with her full attention directed at me, its wings whipping in the wind and I was reprimanded. The Angel scolded me and
told me that I could not leave my body and that I had work to do. As this message was delivered to me the Angels soft sky blue gown began to bleed a hot
red crimson from the bottom of the gown up and I felt I would burn from the heat of it. I looked down to see if my chest was burning and knew in that
instance that this profound Angel had tricked me!
I regained consciousness with a brilliant knowing of well being. I found the help I needed and went back to the hospital immediately knowing that I was
going to be perfectly fine. For the next few years the Angel continued to visit me with the same message. Paint me." Once I agreed, I left my
career, went to a cottage on a lake and began to paint.
Joy is her name and she is the Angel of the crown chakra, our connection with Spirit. All the Angels came at once with the energy of each chakra and a
teaching.
The sixth chakra, the Angel representing the third eye, meditation, prayer, intuition, intellect and the color of the night sky is called Listen with Grace."
Our fifth chakra, located in the area of the throat, is a place of infinite truth and sky blue clarity. A young musician resting in the clouds holds a
string that is missing from his lute. A sweet cherub is offering him the lute and begging him to play. Patience and Harmony is the name of this
Angel. His message is that, first we have to do our work and with patience, harmony follows.
Moving into the heart chakra, the Angel Freedom is sitting on the green grass holding a tiny baby, sprinkling gold over its tiny back as wings begin to form.
She reminds us that in each moment we are born again with the choice to choose love.
The third chakra, the Angel Innocence, has written a message to us. He is a warrior for peace reflecting his innocence in the presence of conflict.
Passion is the Angel that resonates to the second chakra. She is dancing in the sky with a tambourine in one hand and grapes in the other, celebrating
life, relationships and co-creation.
I needed to experience more in order to bring the first chakra angel onto my canvas. Connecting with Spirit brings comfort in this time of metaphysical
awakening. Walking the earth and accepting full life force and responsibility seems more challenging. The truths that we learn in all great
teachings are sometimes difficult to practice in physical reality. I released my need to know and began working with my group, Jivan Gita, on my second
CD, Seven Songs for Seven Angels, each piece is harmonically balanced to each of the seven chakras. Once the CD was complete, the Angel that represents
the root chakra, the red angel, Destiny arrived. She is the symbol of the mother and essence of all love.
Hebert had told me, Diane, I want red Angel! On his altar was a framed collection of
the first six Chakra Angel images, from the
seventh down to the second. The space at the bottom is now filled with an
image of the last angel,
"Destiny".
In October of 2005 we will visit the Spirit of the Mountains, the Apus and my brother,
Hebert once again to experience an Initiation Salon Ceremony. He and the
gentlepeople of the Andes hold the story of the indigenous culture, living a life of mighty prayer and love songs for the Mother Earth that they call Pachamama.
